adding effects to existing sequences

trying to add effects to an existing sequence but once i add it i lose all my other controllers also the effect runs entire sequence i only want it to go for 10 sec please help new to nutcracker

What I do is create a dummy sequence and paste the clipboard into that. I only use clipboard.

I then copy what I want and paste it into "real" sequence for the exact length of time that I want it. Using LOR I can also use "Stretch to fit" to paste it into an exact length.
