Bunnings (at least in New Zealand) have Brick clips made by Arlec on the shelves.
I've bought a pack to try.
The back of the package mentions total height of the clip is 89mm. It does not give information on minimum & maximum size of bricks or mortar gap required to work.
These were too big for my 75mm bricks by about 2mm.
A little bend in the centre was enough to make them work with a secure hold.
The hammer held in this test, but beware
that this is outside of use because the weight is trying to lever the clip outwards. Weight loads should be pulling down.
