Went back in and checked my completed sequences and found a few changes needed to be made after I changed the model. I used the effect Presets to speed things up a little, I was then able to highlight multiple cells and apply the preset to more than one at a time.
I also was having difficulties trying to get the effects I wanted with xlights, for example a bars effect which would simply run from the bottom to the top and around the arch.
I imported the model into xlights using the import feature and left the wiring set as per Boscoyo.
I tried playing around with the render style ie Default change to Per Preview etc but I still couldn't get the effect I was after (prob cause I am a newbie to sequencing)
Anyway I also created a submodel like mentioned in the above thread but left the wiring layout as per the Boscoyo as I liked how the input and output to the sting on pixel nodes are at the bottom of the model.
Here is a screenshot of the Boscoyo wiring configuration from xlights
Four very simple effects, First just on full colour, then bars effect, then single strand which allows each row to light up, then spiral (which sort of give a "candy cane look") and then just a slower version of bars.
Lastly for those interested here is a screenshot of the sequencer with the effects
Just remember when using sub models to click on the prop name (eg CandyCane_10 in my example and apply the effects to the sub model (in my example Horizontal).
I am sure there is probably a easier way of doing this, but this worked for me so I thought I would share.
