I am running 2025.12.1 xLights. I cannot access settings or model preview, among other things. I tried to resolve in chatgpt. It says I am running xLights sequencer and not the full xLights. I never had this prior with the previous versions of xLights; this is my third year. Am I not running xLights properly? How do I resolve? Chatgpt told me to delete xlights and reinstall but i dont want to lose everything and start anew. Any suggestiong?

You can install xLights into a different directory and see if that resolves the issues.
Uninstalling and installing xLights should not touch your show folder (where all the pertinent information is kept) assuming you put the show folder in some place like documents and not in the program folder. Make a backup of the show folder (you might even find a bunch on your computer if you go looking) and then do the uninstall/install.
However, it is pretty strange that you lost your settings and model preview. There are probably some things that might need to be reset to defaults. I'm sure someone will chime in with what those things are or visit the xlights zoom room to get some help or the chat here on ACL.

There will typically be a backup folder in xlights that will have backups that xlights does when it starts . Have a look for a backup folder in your xlights folder and there should be some folders named like "2025-11-13-175124_OnStart" that will have the xml files that contain all the good stuff you seem to have lost.
To get the windows back in case they are everywhere - goto View -> Windows -> Reset to Defaults.
They are one and the same, there's no such thing as "Full xLights"

Installed xLights on a new computer; fresh install - still have same issue. Using 2025.12.1 for windows. What's weird is that when I opened up a sequence created by another sequencer so that I can view their layout, the settings tab is available.

Tried that - still no luck. And settings icon still not available (i click on it, but nothing happens)

It's not a general 2025.12.1 version since I am also running the same version and have access to everything. It's something specific to your situation. Pop into the zoom room as you can screen share there and they can help sort it out quicker and easier than trying to do it in the forums.
