I was thinking about the RGB LED strings that I currently have and what's going to be on my purchase list next, so I though I would compare the strings costs etc, please chime in if you know of others.

my setup is going to require me to cerate a matrix of about 1.2M x 1.6M

D-Light Firefli comes in sets of 16 pixels at 8" spacing which includes a 16 channel controller and psu
strings are 11 ft with 16 nodes so i would suspect 3 strings would work for a matrix of 2M * 4M 8 * 4, cost would be 4 * $169 = $686
cons, matrix is a little big at 8" spacing, so I would end up tying pixels at 6" centers

LOR CRR is a 50 pixel string with a controller and psu
strings are 16.7 ft with 50 nodes, so if i cut up 3 strings into 12 node strings (1.2M) *12 strings (1.4M), cost would be 3 * $250 = $750

MPH RGB strings are 42 pixel strings which 4 strings can link to single controller and psu is extra
strings are 4.2M at 10cm centers so I would get 4 strings to give me a matrix of 12 * 14 (1.2M x 1.4M), cost would be 4*$100 for the strings, $189 for the controller and $30 for psu so total of $620

Galaxia is 99 node strings at 4M at 10cm centers + single controller with psu
strings are $300 and controller is $800 (expensive but will control up to 1584 nodes over 16 strings) so 2 strings at $300 plus controller $800 = $1100, so if your needs are bigger this may be the way to go
cons will LSP control this?

Next question would be, how do they look in practice when built into a matrix and what would you want to do with the matrix.

Niel,

LSP 1.7 will definitely control this, in fact it will make controlling a matrix a very simple task. It will only take 5 minutes to setup your matrix and have it doing things through LSP1.7

As far as how the matrix looks well I have a demo video of a CCR matrix using 4 CCRs set up as 12 x 16 192 RGB pixels. It can be seen here
