cut pixels to lenght

Hello quick question I have a string of smart pixels from seasonal entertainment c9 42 pixels ws2801 can I cut the string at 14 pixels and add a 3ft piece of cable to the next set of pixels and then do the same thing again at 14 pixels I don't know if the distance between pixels matters or do I just cut and ad each 14 pixels on their on address Thanks for any help Dennis Laff

You should be good to do that Dennis. Data will work fine, only thing you would need to watch out for would be runs of power or data longer than 15' from pixel to pixel.

Thanks i'll try I have only cut dumb strings so cutting smart strings is new for me Thanks Dennis

yes, you will have no issues cutting and adding in some cable., As HD said, just be careful with the length of cable you add, If you exceed a certain amount you may encounter some voltage drop issues, or data issues which may require addition of a null pixel.
