Daisy Chain Strings and Controller

If I have two pixel strings at 50 nodes a string and I daisy chain them together from one port on the controller, can I assign the strings separately in xlights? Would that mean I’d have to change the universe the strings are assigned to? Or do I need to use a second port to independently control that string? My roof eave will have two strings daisy chained from one port, but I’d like to independently control each string.

yeah you just set them up as separate models in xlights, then set them up to be connected

You mentioned universes, are you setting up your controller the old fashioned way? If you use the auto config you don't have to worry about universes and channels, you can just drag your props around to controller ports in the visualizer.
