These (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/12mm-WS2801-pixel-module-IP66-DC5V-input-full-color/701799_449802558.html ) seem to be a cheap solution for pixels. What do most people recommend as a distance between pixels?

I realise there are about a 1000 variables that will alter the distance.

I'm looking at building some arches, mini trees, stars etc.

I know strips are generally 33mm apart, but being 12mm in size would the ones I've listed be ok at an increased distance?

Those are "almost always" 100 mm (10 cm's) between nodes.

Unless you specify otherwise in your order of course. I find that they are nice to work with, since you can shorten it without too much problem by tiewrapping each node to conduit at 5 cm's distance between nodes for arches for instance.
