ECG-P12R -vs- DMX RGB LED Controller SD Card

I'm diving into pixel RGB for next year's Christmas Lights and want to know if anyone knows if these two controller are basically the same or what the differences are. Links below:

Thats like comparing a Mercedes to a Tricycle.

There really isnt any comparison. The SD card controller will not work with any of the software in the hobby, unless using the DMX mode, so instead you will have to use the crappy chinese software that is designed for that, good luck getting much support if you cant work it out with that.
The other major differences are the ECG-P12R has 12 outputs that can control upto 2040 pixels. the cheap chinese one will only control 170 pixels in DMX mode and also need a DMX dongle or bridge to work, The P12R is a native E1.31 controller so it doesnt need a dongle or a bridge to work.
If your trying to save a buck or 2 then taking this path will have you on your own as no one really uses this as it really doesnt compare to the J1SYS and Sandevice pixel controllers.

I think you will have the 2048 pixels, but only with SD, Not with the computer, and yes its like a Mercedes vs a Trycicle

Thanks for all the feed back. You just saved me a lot of frustration as I was just about ready to purchase the Chinese version.
