Reviews are not great on those boards. You were using a USB A to C cable? There is a 3V regulator on the board. I was wondering if you have 3 volts coming out. You could measure on one of the 3.3v pins. I would check power as many places as possible so that you know you have power going to all the components. After that, still not connecting? Probably throw them out as troubleshooting chip level problems is basically only for the masochist.
