First Blinky of the year, and it's pulling something apart

When I was rolling up my matrix after Christmas I heard cracking and noted part of the plastic had cracked.
When finally getting around to cleaning up the garage today I noticed quite a few cracks in the plastic matrix material. I had planned to change the matrix from 3" to 2" so looks like that's definitely going ahead this year.

Cracks 1 shows original cracks I saw in the plastic. Cracks2 after half the pixels removed, you can see quite a bit of the matrix has broken. Cracks3 close up.
By the time I got all the pixels out there wasn't much of it left in one piece. Guess 5 seasons of Aussie sun will do that.

What product/vendor was this from? Is this to be expected for us in Aus?

The vendor has since dropped this product and now has more UV resistant versions, as do other vendors.

Note that some of the vendors are only UV resistant on one side.

Would clear UV resistant spray on the grid help it last longer?? - just a thought
