So after reading through the 101, i think for what I want to try and achieve, Intelligent RGB strip lights are going to be the place for me to start.

As a newbie starting from scratch this year the goal is to do a basic setup just following the architectural features of the house.

The amount of options almost scared me away but I think im on the right track if I go for something like this? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/568458133.html

or maybe this as they seem to be more popular.

Or maybe not, seems like a lot of wiring to power as need to cut them strings up and add power every 100 lights. 😶

Assuming correct, then time to start looking at how its wired and controlled.

Have a look at what the local suppliers have so you can get an idea about what is most common. Most people start with either 12mm pixels or strips. The seed pixels are relatively new in the hobby but look pretty cool.

pixels, power supplies, cables - lightitupled
Pixels - extremelighting displays

props - extremelighting displays/Christmas props Australia

controllers, power supplies, cables general electronics - Hanson electronics

controllers - falcon or kulp

welcome and enjoy the journey

There's also a few threads in here about doing house outlines. This is one example from one of my threads but there are more

This is using bullet style pixels and not strip
