FPP on rPi 5

Hi All, merry christmas! Given that its raining and my weekend of starting my lights setup has for now been put on hold, i was looking at replacing my pi as i'm running on my backup .. Has anyone managed to install FPP on rPi 5 yet? I've looked and seen the rPi 5 is not on the supported hardware list, but wondering if that actually matters. Kernels and chipsets and all that is above my head

you'll need FPP 8.0, which will be released next year. Fpp 7 will not work at all.
