Got a 5050 warm white led strip and I want to power it through usb via pc

I'm thinking about using 3-9 leds for a little ambient lighting in my room and im wondering if I can just solder the +- wires and let it go from there?

3-9 LED should be OK, as long as it's 5V strip. If it's 12V, it wont work.

I wouldn't put more than 20 or so off USB - USB ports by default will only give out 500mA, unless asked for more.
