I'm curious what methods people are using to hang props on the side of their house IF they have vinyl siding (is that a common thing in Australia)?

I have used siding hooks in the past, but they are very limited in the amount of weight they can hold. Also a sturdy breeze can move them and dislodge them from the siding.

For some of my larger props I will be able to put screw eye hooks into ledger boards at some hidden points, then stabilize with wire.

When that's not possible though, I'd like to have a few different methods in my bag of tricks :)

The wind is blowing 40mph here in Pennsylvania and we're about to get clobbered with 12-18" of snow, so as I have a little time to sit around and ponder these issues

Hello,

I use very similar hooks to hang props on my garage and have found they work very well. You will want to check the weight rating on the hooks are they are each slightly different. While testing clips, I ordered different ones and found some work better than others. The clips are used on the top section of the garage for the smaller snowflakes and have been in use for several years. I use bungee balls on the props and hook them over the clips and let them hang, two clips per prop. My show is located in the Midwest outside of Chicago so we get a combination of high winds, sub-zero temps and a lot of snow.

I use the same clips for Halloween to hang different props. Mine are stainless steel(?) and I leave them up year round and so far there is no rust or anything to indicate they are wearing out. Before putting them up on the garage I did test them on the backside of my house at standing height to ensure they would work before I committed to them.
