Just like to point out the many things you learn and apply while having the CLAP.

You learn and apply skills to the following and much more... feel free to add to the list.

Fabrication
- PVC is your friend
Electronics and Electricity - stretching the boundaries of pushing current through that skinny little wire.
FM transmitting - more power Scotty, they need to hear me in the next town.
Audio editor - mix master DJ in the house
Software sequencer - Timing is everything

Just thought I'd share. Enjoying my new hobby.

Totally agree Nodent. I'm enjoying my new hobby as well. I find I'm learning something new every day. But that's only because of the community here that are happy to share their knowledge, tips and secrets. .. :)

Here are a few other skills that we need to use in this hobby

Traffic Controller -Manage those traffic jams that we create
Diplomat - Deal with the odd grinch and calls from the police
Donation Collector - Raising money for your favorite charity
Light Designer - We create art with Light
Production design & managenment - A lot of planning goes into this
Garbage Collector - Clean up that mess after the show
Community consult - Get around and talk to the people
Importer - We buy our lights direct from China
Web designer - To help promote our displays
Photographer/Video - Capturing our work to share and remember
video editors - Making that video just that bit better and dubbing in the music
Entertainer - Entertain those visitors that only come around once a year
Security - Stop those kids mauling your display

and im sure there are many more skills we use in this hobby

Redesigner - I like going to the hardware and looking at stuff thinking, how could I make that into Christmas lights.

A couple more that come to mind,



Confectionery Distributor - Nightly supply of sugar to the kids keeping the local Dentist in business
Baby Sitter - Keeping kids entertained while parents relax with a cold beer on the nightly walk.
Sales & Marketing - Always selling the display with facebook updates and tell a friend discussions.
Engineer - Building new display items with what we can find at the local Bunnings

I am sure there are even more to add to this list
