Hi all,
Long time lurker first time poster. This will be my first year with a display, been reading, planning and building props since January. Already purchased 35 5m 5v pixel strips, pigtails (made the mistake of buying them too short), a few power supplys and a falcon f16 v3 with a couple of differential receiver boards. Just about finished my mega tree (after rebuilding it 3 times), arches and house outline, will post some pics of my builds in the next few days

Cool!
If you need any help let me know. I am in Collie, have been doing this a few years now so may be able to help.
You seem to have all the gear to get yourself up and running.
What software are you planning on using? and are you going to use a computer or Pi to run the show?

Hi dev8ed,
I live in Eaton and planning to get into buying a few things to get my display going. I was wondering where you bought most of your gear from ( Ray wu?) and how long did it take to get here ?

Any advice on starting points or basic newbie mistakes to avoid are most welcome.

Cheers

Yeh got most the gear just need the time now to finish building props and start sequencing. Will be using xlights to sequence and use my xeon server running a vm with xschedule to run my show. Hopefully soon the falcon will be able to run the show.

Lights, power supplys and pigtails were brought from Ray wu. Did 2 orders so I didn't have to pay import tax. Both shipped with DHL and arrived in about a week. Ask Ray for a better price on shipping. Buy longer pigtails, easier to cut them down than to make them longer

Welcome to ACL!
You'll find all the info you need in the forums & wiki but if you have any quick questions feel free to jump into chat as there is always someone around.
Goodluck with your display and keep us in the loop of your progress :)
Cheers, Graham

Hi @dev8ed - welcome to ACL. What issues were you having with your mega tree to have 3 goes at it?

Brad
No real issues just changed the size a few times and how the pixels were mounted

Hi @dev8ed

Welcome to ACL We plan on holding a Virtual Mini in the near future and hope you can attend.

Looks good and neat. Didn't waste any time. Did you have your ideas all worked out on how to make everything beforehand or sort of wing it as you went?

I've looked at a few videos of how people have made their trees and arches and stuff and I guess at night time you cant see how it's put together (as long as it looks good with lights) . I think I'm over thinking how hard its going to be to bring everything together. I think I'll take your lead and start making my props and stands and work out the sequences later.

Hey all just thought I would say hi I’m in eaton as well this will be my 3rd year doing the lights hope you are all getting things ready to put up I have started and can’t wait to see everyone’s shows
