Been looking at these type of lights for the past couple of years and want to get involved next year. First noob question where do you buy or make the singing faces from?

Hey mate, welcome to the addiction. Most of us use coro with pixel lights pushed in for the props (this includes singing faces).

You could buy lights locally in AU from Paul at Light it up LEDS - https://www.lightitupleds-xmas.com.au/s/shop
The coro props (including singing faces) are supplied by Troy at Extreme Lighting Displays - https://www.extremelightingdisplays.com.au/product-category/christmas/singing-elements/
You'll also need a controller and PSU's to run these. Alan from Hanson Electronics sell some good stuff - http://www.hansonelectronics.com.au/

Strongly suggest you check out the 101 manual as a starting point. Good luck

Welcome to ACL Grug!
Don't feel like you need to rush and buy gear straight away, still plenty of time for next year's show, but particularly good to do lots of research and formulate a bit of a plan as to what you want/need in your display, and what gear you need to accomplish that goal. Good to also plan for future expansion too if the budget (what's that?!) allows. :)
