I thought I had an account here a long time ago, but I likely was deleted, probably for being stupid....

I started up diychristmas.org in 2011 when doityourselfchristmas.com disappeared from the web. Jon Chuchla is now running it.

It's delightful to see all the activity here. Blinky-Flashy in the U.S. are crazy as ever but forum participation has taken a complete nosedive. We're unsure why. In any event, wishing everyone here a wonderful Christmas 2024.
 
Yep lots of forum activity died down. I used to like interacting on the xLights forum much more than Facebook but the site went down for several months before the guys fixed it cause Sean was busy and now nobody participates there. The xLights group on Facebook got so big I don't like to post there anymore I usually hang out in the smaller groups. I used to interact a lot on doityourselfchristmas.org but it was a bit too anti xLights for me. They were mainly Vixen users except for that one annoying HLS guy....lol. I like to browse here and reply when I can but its not as often.

Hiya David!!! So nice to read your kind welcome!!!

The engineers escaped a few years ago and headed west. They wanted to go down under but I think they got stalled in California when they found out they couldn't drive and of course, hitchhiking was out of the question -- who'd ever stop to pick up those clowns??? So you folks are safe. It took a long time to clean up the lab after all their crazyglue squirtgun fights but now it looks pretty good. And we cleaned up all the slime, too.

Yeah, forums can get kind of territorial, that's for sure! I've got both xLights and Vixen3 but I'm not old enough to understand them. Maybe when I grow up I'll give them another try. I'm still a Vixen 2.1 user. Actually, as I write this, we're waiting for a pretty big snowstorm to attack us, and I'm watching my animated snowmen and pondering if I'll put out a show next year. It's become physically difficult for me to get it done -- even though all of my display elements are wireless so I have precious little wiring to deal with. I have 48 controllers out there this year, which is less than half of my total, and the thought of putting things out next year has me in a funk...

Oh well, in any event, Merry Christmas to you!!
 
Hey Dave, used to spend a fair amount of time over at diychristmas.org with you in the chat room. Lost the chat and then could no longer login at all.. Little more active here. Hope all is well and Merry CHRISTmas to you!
