I am a total beginner and came to this site to learn about decorating with Pixel, I know nothing about using them. Questions I would ask are:
  1. What software to use (I'm assuming xlights)
  2. What computer to use (I have a raspberry PI)
  3. What kind of entry level controller do I need for the Pixel lights. (Some thing inexpensive to get me started).
  4. How do put this all together (Where do I begin)
I was thinking like a small Pixel Christmas tree for the front yard, maybe eight to ten feet high. Not even sure on how I would go about constructing it.
I did download the 101 manual and am in the process of going through it.

Thank you for letting me join the group.

Happy Christmas,
Henry

Xlights is the way to go for sequencing.
A pi is handy if you choose to use a pi cap/cape to run your pixels and/or run your show with Falcon Player. For a simple display banging a Falcon PiCap onto the pi is potentially going to give you enough potential. It can do 2 outputs of 750 pixels. For a greater capacity of 8 outputs of 750 pixels a Baldrick 8 is stocked by a few sellers in the US . https://www.baldrickboard.com/en/where-to-buy-baldrick-boards
Greg Macaree does a whole bunch of good videos covering Falcon Player, Xlights and Baldricks among other things. Well worth a watch.
