Hi everyone. I'm looking to put together a pixlight display for 2018 and have no idea what I'm doing. I'll read the 101 and ask questions as necessary. Any help and guidance you can offer will be much appreciated. I have a bunch of rope light figures, garlands, icicle lights, strings and an 8m mega tree. All strings are LED and most have bridge rectifiers so are on/off only (but extra bright) as the cheapo controllers they were provided with don't like the tropical downpours we get up here. I'll be looking to incorporate some of what I already have into the display but am very keen on building a great big smart rbg tree and some contollable figures/trees etc. Thanks in advance.

Where are you from mate? I've gone from LOR last year with all AC and dumb RGB props, to full pixels this year... Still only new to all this, but happy to help if you need... It's a steep learning curve!

I'm in Townsville. As much as I'd like to go pixle crazy this year I'm going to give myself time to learn and plan it out properly.

Good idea mate... I'm in Moranbah!
I started back in Feb because I suspected it would be a big learning curve... I've just finished sequencing now, and builds are mostly complete... Good idea to give yourself heads of time!

Totally agree ^^
My first year I started on Dec 26 :)
I thought my display was excellent, but I have come a long way since then... And I still think my display is excellent
We all say it is for the kids, or for the fans or whatever.... But really it is for us ;)
Have fun and ask any question you want, the bonus in asking in here, is we are all in the same boat and all started somewhere. So will help when we can.

Welcome to ACL Mushroom.
AT this time of year you'd be best to sit back and take it all in! Formulate a plan of elements you'd like to have in your own display once you start seeing pics or videos of other member's displays, jump into chat and/or zoom and ask away any questions you may have!

Welcome Mushroom,

This is my first year, never done any type of display before. I watched Matt Johnson's display and thought, I can do that....
Building stuff I'm ok with, the Computer / Tech stuff I struggle with. Big time...
Everyone has there strengths

Start early, Read, watch youtube ( xlights.org) videos and talk to everyone on chat is my advice.

Try and get to a mini next year, everyone is more than happy to help

1 month out from my first switch on and I'm Pooping myself.. Really pooping

I started looking into this October 2016 thinking that I can get something put together for 2016 Christmas....but quickly learnt how much there is to this hobby. I have now got to the stage where I have a small full pixel display. Lots and Lots of lessons learnt, I highly recommend this site and the guys on here are generally very fast to respond to issues, which I am sure they are sick of repeating over and over again to newbies like me....lol

Searching through these forums certainly helps answering many of the questions that have been asked before....

Good luck and I hope it comes together well for you...

Thanks wce06. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in. There appears to be a lot to learn. I've been interested in doing it for a couple of years now but until I found this group information was either difficult to come by, geared towards a proprietary system or USA centric.

Hey Wendys,
Good luck with it. I hope it's as spectacular as you have planned it to be.

Hey fasteddy,
Well done on the 101 and thanks so much. I've been trying to figure out how to pull a pixlight display together for a while now. The information in that book and on the forum/video tutorials is the best I've seen. Thanks again.
