Help with shopping list

Thanks for the pic but I'm still not getting it...

Where exactly does the cable from the right end of the first strip? Does it connect to the right end of the second strip and then the left end of the second strip connects to the left end of the third? So it's like a zig zag all the way from top to bottom?
 
I run 2 strips from one output on My P12 controller,



One strip ----------------> that way then attach the second strip and Loop back <----------------------

----------------------------------------------------------<

--------------------------------------------------------->
---------------------------------------------------------< Etc
 
Okay, that makes sense. So the pigtail at the left end of the second strip is not used when it is all hooked up and running.

I too am just starting out this year. I read the 101 and couldn't make much sense of a lot of it so I dove head first. As of today I have got the start of my display working perfectly. I've purchased a load of lights, a controller and a metric ton of cabling to join them all together. I've plunged head first into Xlights4 (it's quite easy once you figure out how to just get it started) and I've managed to create my first synchronisation to music track (Light of Christmas by Owl City).
