It may not seem cleasr to many but plugging in and unplugging pixels when the power is on can cause damage to the first pixel.
This has happened to many users in the past but may not be obvious to new users, so i thought it would be a good time to point this out.

How about correctly powering off a controller? I've got a p12s and I haven't figured out a better way of switching it off other than at the power point

Can that damage a strip?

Disconnecting the power from the outlet should not cause you issues.

This is how I have done mine in the past with no issues, but connecting and disconnecting pixels to the controller whilst the power is on can and has caused damage.

I wonder if its got something to do with the ground pin making contact last when connecting which causes the data line to take the ground current thus failing the chip. just a thought.
