Please read group buy rules: http://auschristmaslighting.com/forums/index.php/topic,202.0.html

Hello this is a group buy for a 12 5050 RGB LED strips. There was a group buy for these 2 years ago and it can be found here : http://auschristmaslighting.com/forums/index.php/topic,302.0.html
Here are the specs for the strips:
What is it?
It is a 450mm x 18mm (18" x 0.7") PCB on which can be mounted 5050 RGB LED's.
LED's are in groups of 3. Each group of three has it's own resistors.
6 or 12 LEDs most be mounted.
Jumpers allow for connection to 12V DC or 24V DC.
LED spacing is approximately 37mm (1.7")

One end has footprint for a RJ45 socket as well as a 4P header the same as used on the TigerDMX120.

Current draw assuming resistors set for 20mA
12V
6 LEDs.... 40mA per colour/channel, 120mA from positive
12 LEDs.. 80mA per colour/channel, 240mA from positive

24V
Half of the 12V figures.
Here is a video of them in action: ledstrips
Here a pic of Blickensderfer house using them as outlining lights for his house:

I am offering everything to make these. I also have solder paste available to make it easy to make these. If you hand solder you have to watch the flux as it will cause stuff to short, the solder paste does not do that. I plan to ship all aussie orders to fasteddy to save shipping. So all these pricing does not include that price as I wont know til im ready to ship. Depending on what you order it might be more esp if you buy the tubes but will still be cheaper than shipping individually.

BOM 1 – Everything but LEDS - .80 each
180 ohm Resistor x 8
360 ohm Resistor x 4
RJ45 Jack

BOM 2 – LED’s
12 5050 RGB LED – 2.16

BOM 3 – 1.30
1 2ft tube with 2 caps

PCB – 2.00

Solder Paste – 17.00
This is a 10cc tube of quality solder paste that is no clean flux and comes with plunger and tip. Good for a lot of soldering. I have done 20 strips and 100 strobes so far an barely used any. Should be able to get easily 100 strips or 600 strobes out of a tube. This is good for the strobes that fasteddy is selling.

All of this is for 1 strip. Also US dollar and does not include shipping, paypal fee and ACL 5%. All orders shipped to eddy will be shipping from him to you. This is the cheapest option to ship overseas.

This worked out really well last time me and phil did this.
S
o please post what your interested in and how many of each item. As of right now these prices are pretty well set shouldnt change much. Also these prices were based on 500 but if we get less then it might go up as well but not much. This thread will run for about 3 weeks and then payment thread will start after that for 1 week.

Please make your post look like this:
Username:
BOM 1 qty:
BOM 2 qty:
BOM 3 qty:
PCB qty:

so for 1 of each item it will be about 6.26 a strip without shipping.

Solder paste qty:

Thanks alot

Re: Interest Thread - RGB 12 LED 5050 Strip

I'm interested. I was looking at adding rainbow wall washers this year but with the price of these I would be able to do much more for my dollars.
Any idea what a ballpark shipping cost would be a qty of materials to make 20 ea.?

Do you have any pictures (and cost estimates) for how the Blickensderfer house waterproofed these boards, and mounted them on the house ?

Re: Interest Thread - RGB 12 LED 5050 Strip

Kidcole,
To mount the PCB's on the tubes, I used 3/4" double sided foam tape. 2 pieces one at each end. To seal them I drilled a hold in one of the rubber caps to slide the wire into. The caps are a pretty tight fit but I did use 100% silicone to seal them up along with making the wire hole water tight.
To attach them to the roof I used vinyl J channel that I purchased at Lowes. I got the same color that matches the house. I zip tied the tubes to the J channel one zip tie at each end or the tube. It does take some planning on how you want to mount them to the roof. I can mount them on the roof in 20 minutes and it takes less time to remove them. I have 150 tubes that are attached to 23 sections of J channel.
During the summer I measured each section of roof and cut them to length to fit the required number of tubes. Note: The tubes can cut in half pretty easy if you are running 12v. 12v would not require changing the resistor values. 24v option would require changing the resistor values.
Out of the 23 sections only 5 required to be zip tied to the roof. The others were able to stay in place by no additional help. Example: on my gable roof edges, on the J, the long flap (straight section of J) would slide under the shingles. The J channel would be between the shingles and drip edge. That would allow the loop part of the J to be wrapped around the shingle facing up. That ¾” that is above the shingle would be where I attached the tube.
For the areas of the roof that had spouting, I turned the J channel upside down so the J would hang off the spouting and the tube would be attached to the long side of the J.
I have each section labeled and numbered and all 23 sections are bundled together for storage.
I hope this helps.

they do look like nice 2ft tube with caps, but im puzzled over the postage price, as when i priced them, they were like $10 each in postage alone.

Visipak. http://www.visipak.com
They were the only place that had square tube that was thick and heavy weight ridged. The only issue was I had to order qty 250 @ 4' lengths and the caps only come in a large qty too. The way fathead (Matt) is doing the coop, The extra tubes that I have is going in the coop. It's cheaper all the way around.

Re: Interest Thread - RGB 12 LED 5050 Strip

Lets see if I have this figured right, the first complete kit would cost $23.26 with the solder paste then each additional would be $6.26.
