Thought I might get some lights up on the house that can stay up all year and be turned on for any old occasional or for no occasion at all.
It's standard dumb RGB strip light on conduit attached up under the eves so out of sun and most rain and aimed back towards the house to give a wash.
Just using one of these http://nz.wellforces.com/m6-m3-3a-mini-rgb-controller-with-rf-remote.html
with a waterproof 100 watt power supply (although I have stuck the controller and power supply in a DriBox just to be sure). This is then connected to a WeMo switch and I can turn it in and off at will from any where using the iPhone (just can't change the colours unless I'm at home with the remote..... need a wifi controller for that).

I wanted to do that but my wife wouldn't let me keep them up all year

Nice, that is something I want to do for night time lighting around the house.

Hopefully your post will inspire me to get started on it. :D
