Hi guys

New here to the forums, great amount of infomation and content on here. Something a little different I am seeking some help with

I am an electrician here in Sydney working in the Amusement Industry the last 12 years on portable Amusement/Carnival rides. Am wanting to do some programming of some pixel LED systems on the rides themselves (have done quite a few installs over the last few years just not my own programming) Industry standard in most amusement rides here and in Europe is the use of LED Edit with K10000, T8000 and similar controllers with WS2811 and WS2812.

What I mainly want to achieve is making these ride name "top signs" chase like conventional chasers (each letter as a channel, white outline as the letter etc) as seen in some of the video links I have provided. Any infomation would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

Not sure what your question is Adam, but doing chases and outlines in xLights is simple; and a quick look at LEDEdit Effects looks like you can do that in that program too.
Simple (or not so simple :) ) matter of mapping your lights and then programming them.

Not sure how well xLights talks to K10000, T8000 type controllers

Hi mate

Thankyou for the reply, my question is how to custom make the programs. I have had a few goes practicing making mock up maps but in terms of programming each letter to group and flash for example. Am I needing to set-up each letter on it's own port in LED Edit?

Then making the programs to suit (colour of LED to match background colour etc) As in LED Edit, are you saying you have found swf files that can make the sequences like in the letters on the signs in the videos or is there a way to make suit the mapping I need?

Haha yes simple I would like to be saying myself, the programming is where it is getting me.

LED Edit is a diabolic piece of software. I have tried to add support for those Txxxx controllers to xLights but was not successful. I reverse engineered part of the data format but was defeated by the encrypted nature of the pixel data. So unless you are interested in changing controllers you are pretty much stuck.
