MikesElectricStuff (in the UK) did the LEDs and drive electronics for this amazing sculpture:

350,208 LEDs, 19,456 LED drivers, 170 PIC32's, 600 metres of PCB, about a mile of wire, 5 kilowatts of PSUs, and some carbon fibre!

The stats on the thing are simply astounding, coupled with the fact it is an engineering masterpiece and art too makes this thing simply amazing!

Whilst I do like it and I'm sure it would be better seeing it in the flesh, I can't help but think you could do more with 350,000 lights. My daughter said, how boring is that, so not good for kids apparently.

What makes this amazing is not the design, engineering or lights alone. It amazing because all of them are combined into a work of art.

Yes, it's a piece of art incorporating LEDs, not a gaudy flashing disco effect.
