Leds from taiwan the API LED has the IC in the LED . cost of rgb strip 48 USD/ meter

The info is from a quote i have from a manufacturer in China.

there is a 1-2 month order time for these strips .

More info to come as the manufacture releases it , I am trying to get a sample.

considerably cheaper than other retailors on aliexpress for the 3001 strip .

That is rather cool. I have seen a few designs for a 5050 LED with the chip and other parts mounted on the base below the LED leaving a package about 7mm square and 5mm thick, but not quite the same as a chip inside the led itself, more a blob pixel

Very nice find angus, im sure some people will definetly find a good use for those. I wonder if there will be higher wattage variations to come that will do a strobe effect

the link i gave is for visual only , those are not the leds from this manufacture .

They are being very tight about info on their product , but they are reputable.

I have requested more info and will post all as soon as I recieve it .

Well I finally got a reply . this rules these strips out for me .

The controllers required to run them are very expensive.

She would not confirm the led type but i believe they are a Dvi ( api ) leds that may be custom made for them.

My original request was for 2801 or 3001 32 ic/meter price .

This is what she is trying to sell me as a better product .

I guess she assumes I am building a big screen as the 3001s seem to be designed for a matrix .

Hi Rich,

For the third one, which is special controller ( DVI master an DVI slave controller( special program)
and the except the IC, programing in the software are the same.

Sample is okay, not 1m 50 leds, but other specification in stock.
