Hi all,

Very new here, but alas here at 4am due to frustration and lots of expletives.

I have a set of fairy lights which i can't seem to find any info on the board. Now I've looked and found clives video but it seems my board (ofcourse) is ever so slightly different.

The differences i can see are it doesn't seem to have a spot for the extra chip. It's frustrating as it's the only set which doesn't have a memory and we have to tap the button everytime...

Please to i pray to our holy lightness that someone can help me with this conundrum.

Pictures attached.

Hello and welcome,

You ask for help and want information but you never state what the problem is or what you want to do. Just be a little more clear about what info you are looking for and what you hope to achieve.

I apologise, it's 430am and havnt slept adhding this project..

Im trying to achieve a set of lights that doesn't have to have the button pressed to achieve static mode everytime as this is myonly set that does this.

With the 2 wire strings it's a bit more difficult than the old method of just bypassing the transistors on the outputs, as the 2 wire sets require the transistors to run. You either will need to look for another supply/controller that has a memory hold function, or replace the whole thing with something like a dmx2-24 or 2811dc2-30 from Hansen Electronics https://www.hansonelectronics.com.au/product/2811dc2-30/

Your lights appear to be 31v, so https://www.hansonelectronics.com.au/product/power-supply-s-200-31/ will do the trick. You will be able to use that to run quite a few lights so long as the voltage they require is 31v.

just so you are aware, the Hanson controllers I linked above do require you to have some sort of signal feeding them to run the lights, they won't run without that (Except the DMX2-24 which has the 8 function controller things built in, read the manual for more info on that)

Thank you so much for this, curiously would https://www.amazon.com.au/PremierAdapter-Christmas-Lighting-Timer-Multi-C5T2/dp/B0BN3JZRTV do the job?

Been told I need these lights working by Tuesday and Amazon can have it here by tomorrow.

Or I've been trawling through older psus at home and found these. Would these work for the task?

No, you need a 33V power supply to match the voltage the lights require. I believe Hanson Electronics sells a suitable unit.

No that one is 40V rated, You need one that's rated for an output of 31V maximum.

Edit: Seems the listing is for a 31V one but the photo shows one with an output of 40V for some reason.
So aslong as the voltage is 31-33v the wattage and amperage aslong as they meet the current supply can be higher as it will only draw what's needed?

Yes. The output current can be anything as long as it's the same or higher than the existing power supply.
That power supply will ideally only be good for one set of lights, not for the boards that I linked above.

For the one set at this stage that's perfect. The eventual plan is to go fully addressable and hyperfocus into a huge spectacle but for now these are just for the space we chill in at night.
