Decided to rebuild my 1200 high Mega tree and use 5V pixels instead of 12V modules.
Very happy with final product.
Can't decide yet whether to cover or leave pixels bare.
If i leave bare I would cut down the 100mm sides about half way.

Found an old soldering iron that was the perfect size for the pixels. Just had to reheat the holes to press the pixels in. Worked a treat. Now my whole tree is 5V. ;)
Also found that fitting sides OUTSIDE the base was real easy to glue as I could cut and fold the piece and glue rather than on top. 8)

Quick spanner in the works,

If you like the definition of seeing the individual lights then may I suggest you cut it down like you suggested and then try again with a cover on it. You will get some definition of each light with some degree of diffusion.

Cheers,
Rowan

Longfellow,

Nice looking star, any video of it in action??

was wondering if you provide the overall dimensions?
Appears that you have approx 87-90 pixels, is that about right??

Are you injecting power at multiple locations??

Hi Dave. Will video tomorrow. I have some but MB to big for download.
Using 88 5V pixels at last count. Power injection at start and finish only. Tried without end injection but lost colour on last 10 odd.
I will put dimensions on tomorrow when I am home and a short video.
Am going to operate without a cover for the clean look.

Looks fantastic!!!!

Amazing to think of the sequencing possiblities..............

At about 37 seconds into the video, what level of intensity are the pixels set at??

Thanks. That is being run through xLights. I just set to Random sequences. I have run full 3 mins and stop-watched the time of the different sequences I like then I need to find that in the time-line of xLights the dissect the 50+ lines of code to find that bit.
I intend to do that so I can use the good bits.
I will post results as I go. In fact I will record the full song and post it NOW I KNOW HOW. ;) ;)
