.I want to add these light to my pot lights and control them , on the network where my lights and controller and fpp are on a separate network subnet or vlan (192.168.2.x). But want to be able to control these light from my phone the rest of the year on (192.168.0.X).. in your opinion how would you set up your network ..so the xmas show causes or is least effected by household user activity . Would i keep the 8 bulbs on the main network? or set them up on the Christmas network with a separate wifi and do something to be able to use my phone on the main network to control the lights on ..

If the number of lights is low then putting them al on the same IP range shouldn't cause any problems at all. Any under a few thousand channels won't affect your network traffic to any degree.
