7 mini trees with 1 50 pixel string on each
8 post lights 1 x 50 pixels string on each
1 gutter light 2 x 50 pixel strings
all feed back is accepted as i said i am using what others have used in their displays

only one to start with as what i am building i am at near max channels already but then will look at either a p2 or another p12s

enough of these to join strings and do power injection on my tree

and looking at LSP pro for software

If you're going for an almost entirely 2801 pixel display using my 2801DC boards is a bit cheaper than DMX36. Distance is the limitation of the pixel based dc controllers compared to dmx ones.
There's also fuse boards on my site as well as Daryl mentioned fusing.

Cat 5 cable/s, figure 8 cable for power injection, heatshrink, soldering iron, heatshrink gun, multimeter.
I prefer using pre-made cat 5 cables but I usually keep a roll of cat5 cable on hand as well as ends and crimpers for the last minute cabling that occurs when the shops are closed.

thanks Alan i do have most of those tools being a mechanic by trade and as for power injection i was just gonna use the security cable and i have lots of premade cat 5 cables already here

Wow and i thought my shopping list was big for this year, lol, actually depending on a few things it might be, i added the Raspberry PI in as well, lol
Software will be a big cost for you, i may eventually look at LSP but staying with Vixen 3 until it bugs out (and it saves me over $300-$400 i can spend on lights/controller), and if they upgrade it this year it might get better,
Why no strips? i mean for the guttering/outline would look great as a strip, i guess the strips are personal preference,
Anyways mate i look forward to seeing your progress and will be updating with mine along the way,
I am lucky to have rolls and rolls of Cat6 and Fig8 in my roof, well all types of cabling, telephone, cat5, 4core, 6core, 7core, 2core audio, 2 core intercom, single core, etc etc etc
I make all my patch leads, but i t all the tools as well, even the tester, lol
Brad

So with a few adjustments after an oversite on channels and software control my mini trees have now become dumb pixels due to programming (YIPPEE) so i have saved myself 1029 channels so now i will put more strings on my mega tree the mega tree is now up to 27 strings of 50pixels still same amount of channels just more pixels used Thanks Steve
