I have started learning the program following the 2015 Tutorial by Ryan I know it is a old version but I notice when I check the node chart for the mega tree with same settings I notice he shows a amount of 4,800 but on mine it only shows 1,600 the amounts of nodes does this mean the new version only counts the lights once instead of 3 because of the colours. Also can not change from Red.

Xlights changes so quickly you are going to have serious issues with a video that old. Suggest you check the videos out at videos.xlights.org . They are more current.
