null pixels / phantom pixels

Hello all!
Does anyone know if it matters if I were to use an RBG or GRB pixel has a null pixel when the real ones are RGB? Or use an RGB when my controller says to use an RGB > RBG conversion on the actual live pixels? Basically using a different type of pixel, but same ws2811 protocall, for null vs. regular pixels.

If it matters for the sake of discussion, I'm using J1Sys controllers; ECG-P2 and P12X

The data stream will pass though the pixel without regard for the colour order of the LED that is attached to it.

So no, it doesn't matter.
