P10 panels run at 1/16 scan?

I have recently purchased 12 P10 panels and will be running it from a beagle bone black with octoscroller. Most of the old tutorials call for running them at 1/8 scan. Is it possible to run them now at 1/16 scan with the latest software?

The panel scan ratio is based on the hardware and the number of control lines.

The software / board needs to drive them in the correct mode.
