Hey All,

So i am thinking about putting a IT rack in my garage as a permanent control setup. My aim is to have as much as possible setup in here and left year round. I will get a pair of dedicated 15Amp outlets run to this rack so power will be plenty.

I was wanting to know if anybody else here has done a similar thing? if so do you have any photos of your setup?

I will want to keep as much of it rack mount as possible, considering putting my F48 in a rack mount enclosure and have a patch panel, has anybody done this?

Thanks,

Mikey

Nothing is impossible and you'll likely put your own spin on it.

In terms of a rack mount F48 enclosure, I have seen two on Facebook.
Both took a 1U housing; extended the OLED's screen, buttons and Ethernet RJ45 connectors to the front of the enclosure. Then had RJ45 connectors on the back for differential outputs. A mains input was on the back with a 5v power supply inside.
Small patch leads and keystones were used with the RJ45 connectors.

That's what I remember of both I saw (different people made them). I like the idea myself but I don't have a rack mount in my cupboard to begin with, it's just a shelf.

To permanent setups, a search on Facebook with "rack F48" popped up with these... (which none contain a rack lol).
[Edit] - Facebook links may say 'unavailable'. You will need to open the link and be part of Official XLights support group.

Hi Mikey,
How is is going? Did you sort out your Rack?
I'd love to see what you came up with as I'm building right now and could incorporate the idea potentially
