Pi audio quality

Iv'e had some weird issues this year with the sound not detecting properly but on the BBB.


I had to delete the file /root/.asoundrc before the sound would work.


There is also a setting somewhere in a file in /boot to specifically disable the Pi onboard audio from memory.


I use a cheap USB sound blaster adapter I got from MSY. About $20

heads up for those considering usb audio devices.


If you play any mp4's (for video projection) the audio will not play via the USB device. If you just play mp3's it is however a great improvement.


I also tried playing with HDMI audio splitters. This works great for mp4's but doesn't work for mp3's.


Will try the HiFiBerry when it arrives to see if it works for both.
