Hey guys.

Had a great time at the melb mini, and now it's time to take action and get into pixels.

Of course before i make the jump, i want to confirm with the experts (you guys!) that what i theorise is going to work. I went through the wiki and previous posts as much as i could.

I'll give it a go with LSP.

I have 2 LOR boards, so i'm thinking i can use ethernet from PC to switch, and then to an ECG-D2 to the LOR boards. using an existing 27v 350w power supply.

Then from the switch, have an ECG-P2 to run a couple of 2811 strings for leaping arches, all powered by some 12v power supply. Starting off small...

There's no 2811's listed on http://auschristmaslighting.com/wiki/RGB_Lighting_Products, so what are the lights that people are buying/have bought from ray wu this season?

If there's anything else i need, or better alternatives, let me know.

Cheers

I'm not sure how the pricing compares but 1 of the new J1-Sys boards is meant to have both DMX and pixel outputs.

I think it is not posible to connect LOR devices and J1Sys devices to same switch. As far as i know the RJ45 cable configuration of LOR devices is quite different from other devices, that would cause a short circuit if you try to connect LOR boards to switch.
I know it because i made the same question couple of weeks ago in chat and Smartalec kindly explained me that. Nevertheless mayve there are others opinions about it.
Cheers,

it is with a cross over cable. many of us have done it and are still doing it. it would be coming out of the e1.31 - dmx converter on the p12s board. so not a standard switch

No what he has posted is correct.
He is not connecting his LOR boards to the switch.
He is only connecting his D2 and P2 to the switch.
The LOR boards will only connect to the D2.

Depending on which style of pixel your after, you can start with these.

Nice pickup Alan. it's the ECG-P12S:

From Ed:
one surprise we have kept under wraps is the addition of 2x P-DMX connectors on the P12S. so a single P12S will drive 12 universes of pixel strings plus provide two universes of DMX output.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Much appreciated. Now to order the stuff and have a go.

Cheers.
