Hey all,

So in order to make my megatree easy to put up and take down, I decided to zip tie the square flat back pixels to 20 foot (6 meter) lengths of PVC schedule 40 pipe (painted black). I used the 3/4" (19mm) diameter stuff. Basically I bring out two of these at a time (the two are connected to each other at top of the tree, so they have to be installed in pairs). Since this is my first year, I had to figure out how to store the poles... I have reasonably high ceilings in my garage (around 3 meter), so I figured I would try the ceilings... considering the fact that my other hobby is some pretty serious woodworking and that I have built in dust collection ducting in my garage and lumber racks & storage on most of the walls, the ceiling had to be the trick... and even it was going to be tight.

Now, I also love Unistrut (Superstrut at the big box stores here in the U.S.). I figured I could make four custom multitiered bracket things that would hang from the ceiling ever XX feet or meters and then put the pipes up there. I got to work and I'm really happy with the way it came out, so I figured I would post some pics...

Enjoy,

-Louie

ok, sidebar on the woodworking, where's the forum post on the shop?

And ahem, you cannot be a serious woodworker, it looks like you are a serial cleaner and organizationalist. Now THIS is what a shop, garage should look like.

The grizzly DC in the background, 2hp? How much do you love it?

Great looking idea, and one I might steal very soon. I have 12' ceilings in the woodworking shop and those would work FABULOUS to put my whole show on the ceiling for sequencing in the off time of the year..

Hah... I will have to dig up some pictures of the garage/shop and post 'em later this week... We've only been in this house for 18 months or so, hence the clean and neat-ness.... although, I am definitely an organizer... my old garage was a 2-car 20x20 and the wife had a rule about having her car in the garage... so all of my stuff was crammed into the other half of the garage.

That grizzly is actually a 3HP... got a great deal on it a few years back when Microsoft/Bing did the cash-back on eBay thing... and Grizzly participated... basically got 35% off in the form of cash-back... the intake is 8" on it and if you're not careful, you could easily lose a small pet... :p

So what sub-forum should the shop shots go in?
