Ready to run- Baldrick 8 Port Pixel Controller - Power supply fit?

Hi guys,

can you fit a Meanwell LRS350 power supply in the premade case? the dimensions seem a little tight. 290 x 190 x 140 waterproof enclosure

if the controller board was rotated lengthways instead of across like in the picture and the power supply was mounted to the side of the case?

Case is 140 deep, Power supply 115 wide. not sure how much play room there is.

I asked this a while ago and the more experienced people said it could and some even have Raspberry Pis or switches in there. I found it was going to be too tight for me so upgraded to a slightly larger box.
 
Different enclosure obvs (this is the closest thing I had for reference)... if you 3D print the Mean Well mount and put the LRS-350 PSU in the bottom and the board on top, it sure looks like it ought to fit (the board is wider than the PSU so it should be fine). That said, if you wanted a bigger enclosure, nobody would blame you.

Ok cool. Just in bunnings at the moment looking at slightly larger options, but I won't be cramming anything else in the box apart from those 2.

By width and depth you are fine by eyeball... by the numbers, the enclosure is 290mm and the PSU is 215mm, so by length there should be room in the bottom for the cables to enter and bend around to where they belong, so I would totally be fine w/ the enclosure you have, if you think the thermals are OK.
 
This is how I put mine together. I used the NBF-32016 by Bud Industries which is Internal Dimensions: 11.01" × 7.02" × 4.62". I could have mounted it directly on the power supply but decided to use 2 levels because I am weird at wanted the wires facing down. As you can see there is more than enough room to add in a raspberry PI or even a small 5 port switch if needed. I think the dimensions are close to the type of box you were discussing.

Do you have access to a 3D printer if so you can use a Bladrick STL and mount the board on top of the Meanwell LRS350 power supply
 
Fitting is a bit of a moot point. If you put a power supply bigger than about 200W into a sealed box and you haven't got snow outside to keep things cool then you really need to have 2 vents and a fan in order to keep things cool. It's the keeping cool that is the reason I went with 5V 200W mounted internally or the 12V 500W waterproof mounted externally.
Using https://www.brenclosures.com.au/temperature-rise-calculations/ and the dimensions of the box and the 60W (16% loss at 350W load) of heat generated by power supply losses you get the following numbers
35C ambient with no direct sunlight. Temperature in the middle of a box mounted to a wall 87C.
35C ambient with direct sunlight the temp jumps to 91C.
The LRS350 power supply has a maximum operating temperature of 70C. Any more than 30W of power dissipation inside the box will result in a temperature rise to 70C from 35C ambient.

I will be using 2 separate enclosures, both will be mounted in areas with no direct sunlight ever. I have plenty of PC fans available, so I reckon i'll be getting out the power tools and drilling some extra holes and getting some breeze through. Being in Tassie, Temps "shouldnt" be as bad, but i prefer to run on the side of caution and get some extra airflow :) thanks for the input !
