Hi all,

I knocked up a couple of prototype mini trees today and I'd like to get some feedback on which works better.

The first is a "Belardo Lights" J tree http://belardolights.com/jtree.html

Mine has 100 12mm 5v RGB modules on it, all of which face the viewer.

The second is a standard 4-sided mini tree with 5 metres of 12v RGB 5050 strip 30 LED/m.

The wife likes the strip tree but I just don't know myself. The strip tree does wash some colour back on to the house which will look nice, but the modules seem a bit better, even though I think it needs 50 more.

The 12v would be better for voltage drop also I beleive?

Anyway, the plan is to have 11 of them in the yard.

Apologies for the dodgy video. The real camera had a flat battery.

i have to agree with your wife, the strip tree looks brighter, neater, more like a rope light tree.
but other tree looks like a normal boring christmas tree with lights strung on it

That make 2 for the strip light tree, as alec said looks neater and less voltage drop issues to contend with and the strip has already got an excellent weather resistant seal

I'd go with the wife for 2 reasons.
1. Happy wife happy life
2. I look neater and you can see the shape better

I showed my wife too and she liked the strip tree as well.
Good work and great idea.

I'm gonna go against everyone else here and prefer the 1st tree better as its more scattered, whereas the strip tree looks too perfect for me.

My wife likes the strip and only believes I like the 1st one better because I am also "Scattered" myself. ???

Possibly she may have a point :D
