Safety Isolating Transformer for Christmas Lights set

I need to replace a Transformer. Original Transformer is Primary 230-240Vac - 50Hz......... Secondary is 24v -650mA 15,6va. My question is can I replace it with a 230-240V ac to Secondary 24V - 2000mA transformer?
I am putting my christmas lights up in the loft ready for next time, and would like to get a replacement before I have everything away, I have found various transformers on the internet.

As long as the voltage is identical, the current can be identical or higher, just not lower.
