Shadow Model Matrix Offset Issue

Hey folks,

So I've got a large matrix in the display. It's 13 strings of 600 pixel lights that run 5 pixels high x120 wide. We've built shadow models for it, but they seem to have an offset issue. On the computer, you'll see the effect I intended to be on lights and then what actually appeared on the lights. You can see how the shadow models are setup and the node layout on the Shadow Model for String 1 of the matrix. The nodes only have one line, and I think they actually need to exactly mirror the matrix and that's the issue. Just not sure how to fix it.

Any help is appreciated.

The problem you're seeing is because every second port is wired backwards. What I mean by that is because you have an "odd" number of strands per string, the real matrix expects it to snake in this type of a direction:
LEFT
RIGHT
LEFT
RIGHT
LEFT

RIGHT
LEFT
RIGHT

etc

With the red text being your port 1, green being port 2.
This is because you've defined the Sequencing model as 1 string, with 65 strands per string.
To get around this, define it as 13 strings, and 5 strands per string. This will make every 5th strand re-start on the left.
It then will map the channel data to your shadow models correctly.

My question though, is why are you shadowing it? It appears to all be on a single controller. Can you not just assign 13 consecutive ports and do-away with the shadows?

Thanks. That’s helpful.

The shadow models were an attempt to split strings across power supplies. Each string is 600 24v nodes. It’s a fair amperage draw and it needs to be split across three power supplies to make it work. What I ended up doing was just creating three matrices and tying them together. Worked fine.
