Hi all,

If possible I would like to play a (live)video on a matrix with 5000 pixels.
The software must be able to output to the ECG-P12R (sACN or ArtNet II)
video format depends on the software.

Anybody any ideas?
Greetings, Robert

Hello Robert

You have a couple of choices.

Light Factory, professional lighting software, will render to 5000 pixels without a problem.
We have a personal version we can purchase for large discount.

Light Show Pro, dedicated Christmas lighting software, depending on computer may struggle with 5000 pixels.

You could also try a program called HLS, which is very new and I am not sure if it does video to matrix.
Have to search forum.

another professional one is Madrix, expensive, but worth a google.

LSP cant output live video,
But it can output video that has been imported into a matrix in LSP. But i think thats not what is needed. I think something like madrix would be a good choice for running actual live output. Just remember that if all the controllers are fully populated then you may not get the refesh rates of live video.

If your serious ,want a top shelf display and
your going to play live on your matrix you might want to think about this controller .

http://www.ledwalker.com/product_details.aspx?pid=3&sid=7&id=202

You will need the pixels that go with it and a slave or 3 .

This is serious quality and requires deep pockets compared to christmas hobby hardware and elements .

They do offer free software and sell Madrix just as Fast Eddy Suggested .

I intend to get into this for next year .

Angus -

can you define "deep pockets"? ballpark pricing on these products?

what type of input and what resolution are people usually looking at?

we might look at some solutions.

Robert if you have gone to this site and referred to the specs on this Dvi Master -Slave system you will have noticed that the Master can control 2 x 255 slave devices .

Each slave device can have upto 16 universes of control , The capacity of channel control here is huge , which is required for high resolution or hd .

These controllers are also hdmi compatible.

Now for the intel strip that these can control to achieve the high definition -resolution for a matrix the pixels on the strip need to be very close together.

This is where putting the ic inside the led comes in .

As with the strip that we are using there is a few various types of strip for the dvi system also.

Hers is one type you will notice the in put signal is Dvi which equates to 16 bit .

Here is a few examples of some produts that may interest you>>

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/522463829/Wireless_SD_USB_ARTNET_DVI_VIDEO.html

Jenny at led walker has mentioned Some Api rgb strip that is 48$ per meter combined that with 800$ -1k for the dvi master- slave and this gets costly real quick .

I am by no means an authority on this , just thought i would share what i have discovered .

However if your doing any matrix animations( imho ) this is the only way to get clarity

Hope this helps your plan to animate live on rgb for best resolution-definition

Thanks for the response richard.

Looks like there is no easy way to do this with the hard- and software that we use now.
But it will look way cool if we can have some sort of animation / light effect on the matrix as background for a show or something like that. 8) 8) 8)
I will look in to that...
