Decided to convert a string of fairy lights that were originally solar powered to low voltage because the solar module was damaged.
The power supply I ended up using is an old Nokia phone charger that outputs 3.7v DC and the lights run very nicely. I left the lights on for a few hours to simulate a night of running time and the lights remained bright with only the transformer becoming slightly warm.
I'm very happy with the result and think using an obsolete phone charger as a power supply for an otherwise useless set of lights is a great way to repurpose old items and make them useful again.
