Starting My Setup (a bit of advice needed)

Hi All

I started make up my controller box today after getting most of the parts. SOOOO now the fun begins

I have

1 x Falcon F16v3
1 x Expansion board
3 x meanwell 350w controllers (Over kill I know Im just getting it ready for next year)
1 x case to put it all in
1 stack of 100psc/set of 12v Ws2811 smart pixels

I have access to the web control and I can create test patterns so I must of done something right getting this far.

The question is where do I go from here. I have been reading the Falcon Manuel to get a few ideas

How do I set up the 2nd controller board
Dont understand the Universe page and setting up the light

Any help would be great

Hi All

I have been watching videos and reading all day.

I have plugged up some light and got them to work on the Mega tree no worries. I still dont understand what a universe is can someone explain this to me ?

My Setup
I have 1 Mega Tree and 1 star

Mega Tree is set up

Type = 180 Round
Degress = 180
Strings = 30
Nodes =100
Strands = 1
Port = 1
Start channel #100:1

Star setup
Strings = 1
Nodes =100
Port = 32
Start channel = ??? What do I put in here

I only get one light on the star to work. What Am i Missing ?

Universe's are a way of grouping channels into smaller chunks. Each universe has 512 channels but generally most people seem to limit universe's to 510 in their xLights.

Why 510 instead of 512? We use 510 channels because the vast majority of pixels use 3 channels per pixel so each each 510 channel universe can handle 170 pixels (510 / 3 = 170 instead of 512 / 3 = 170.6666666666667).

Star setup seems to be fine in the screenshots, we'll need some screenshots of the setup tab in xLights and the the universe setup page on the falcon controller page.

Jump into zoom and ask there. That way folks can see your setup and ask questions. At this time of year it is the most efficient way to get setup.

I know these Zoom meetings get done on Fridays. But I cant find any info on it on the forum. Can you please point my into the correct direction thanks
