transmitter in enclosure

Has anyone put a CZU-05 in a large ish metal enclosure, obviously this will affect it but by how much? any issues with fans causing interference ?
 
What if you add an extension onto the antenna so that is outside the box. That should cut some of the interference.
 
The metal box may completely block the signal, as Srmorgan has suggested, mount the antenna externally otherwise you have yourself a fine faraday cage. Does the box need to be metal or completely metal?
 
curious to know how it would go as is. will probably have to go with something like you suggest. it only needs to go 40 or 50m with clarity
