I am looking at getting a variable power supply to test lights etc>
None of my lights are above 30 volts, But what amperage should I be looking at ?
3 amp, 5 amp or 10 amp ?

Update: I currently have dumb RGB pixels, Rope lights and LED string lights.

If you only test one light set at a time then the 3 amp supply would be plenty unless you have huge incandescent sets or possibly ropelights. Don't trust the voltages listed on the light sets and their boxes. I run all of my store bought lights at 31V after hacking them. Mine are old though and I don't have any of those new 2 wire ones.

I never bought a supply specifically for testing but it would have made things easier.

Always get as much as you can afford! 10 amps is pretty good.. I have used up to 8 amps of mine and had to not add any more.. So I had to test in partials..
