I just used a nicely ironed white bed sheet in the window for my sister inlaws place last Christmas, looked great from the street. Forget about the lights, the virtual santa was the most popular piece.

That is very true. "The lights are nice, but where did you get that Santa?" "Is Santa going to be at your house again this year?" Etc. :-(

theres some very nice stick on translucent vinyls that work well as well. Perfectly flat.

We have double blinds on our window. One blockout and the other is white. The white blind works surprisingly well. We just pull both blinds down to fire up everything and make sure the alignment is right, then we lift it so it projects through the white blind.

Not perfect, but it doesn't really need to be.

+1 to Skunberg's post - I use white plastic picnic tablecloth and it works perfectly.
My windows are tinted, which I think prevents any BG glow, but it works well.

I used lycra last year and I wasnt too happy with it. It is too transparent and you can see thru it.

Rofl! And THAT is why I like to see lycra on the ladies 8) Maybe not so much on a projector screen though :-\
