WARNING ACTUNG!!!!!! BEWARE
DONT DO WHAT I DID I WAS TRYING TO SET UP SOME 12V LIGHTS ON A P12S
WHEN I ORDERED THE CONTROLLER TO BE SET UP AS 5V
I HAD ALL MY 5V LIGHTS WORKING OFF ONE BANK
AND WAS DOING AS YOU CAN DO IF DONE PROPERLY
HAVING 12V ON ONE BANK AND 5V ON THE OTHER
NORMALLY NO PROBLEM BUT!!!!!!
IF YOU DO ORDER ANY CONTROLLER THAT HAS JUMPERS TO SET THE VOLTAGE TO 5V
MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE JUMPERS BEFORE ADDING 12V OR YOU WILL END UP WITHOUT A CONTROLLER AS I HAVE DONE TODAY
NOBODY'S FAULT BUT MINE
TAKE CARE AND LOOK TWICE READ TWICE AND THINK TWICE BEFORE PLUGGING INTO POWER
IN THE PICS YOU WILL SEE ON THE CHIP SETS
THE EXHAUST SYSTEM I CREATED TO LET OUT THE BLUE SMOKE
TAKE IT FROM ME PLEASE READ YOUR MANUALS AND NEVER BE IN A HURRY TO DO ANYTHING

Im so sorry to hear that you didn't have a good day yesterday mate. Is there any way that this can be repaired? At the end of the day at least you didn't blow yourself up.

Sorry to hear, Most of us have done this at one time. it an expensive way to learn a lesson, but im sure you wont do that again

Experience is the best teacher, but it's a heck of a lot cheaper second hand. Thank you.

Also be careful about Reversed polarity!! I fried a board that way. Anyway know where I can get it it repaired?

Was it set to 5V or 12V when you applied the reverse polarity? If it was set to 12V, I may be able to repair it.

Sorry to hear about the accident Adam.
I don't think that it was stupidity.
Sometimes even if one is 'careful' , you can still have something like this go wrong. It may seem obvious after the fact , but IMO , quite often I have looked at jumpers , read through the manual and each of different settings have looked reasonable to have.

was set at 5v David.

My guess is that reverse polarity when set to 5V would be fatal and not viable to repair.

In other news I did email Ed about Adam's P12S, but no reply so I guess that's another one for the bin. Sorry Adam.

Sucks when good money goes down the drain. My first year I couldn't get my p12s to work. Ben checked it out for me and somehow I had blown 7 of the 12 fuses but luckily no damage.
